Renaissance Lighting designs and manufactures innovative solid-state lighting fixtures delivering exceptional appearance and color management, superior efficiency, environmentally conscious long life and glare-free illumination for most general illumination applications.
The company's advanced approach to product engineering and design is supported by an IP estate of 32 patents, including the breakthrough ''constructive occlusion'' an optical system technique that blends and controls light from multiple LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to produce elegant and uniform illumination for use by architects, lighting specifiers and space designers.
Renaissance Lighting's ''green'' technology integrates internal sensors constantly monitoring and adjusting light output and color. This patented approach includes the ability activate ''sleeper LEDs'' to compensate for the gradual degradation of light or color during the fixture's normal 50,000- to 70,000-hour life span.
The company was launched to commercialize a unique and proprietary optical design which produces superior optical system performance using conventional and solid-state lighting sources.
Inspired by scientific work at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) on a project to develop a laser-guided weapons countermeasures system for the United States Air Force, research scientists formed Advanced Optical Technologies (AOT) in 1996, and with support from SAIC and Crowley Technologies, invented and developed optical technologies that created a breakthrough, patented approach to the application of solid-state lighting for general illumination. To commercialize this further, AOT launched Renaissance Lighting Inc. and licensed it the rights to AOT's intellectual property estate for applications relating to the lighting industry.
Renaissance Lighting's leaders include: Board Chairman George D. Crowley, Jr., Chief Executive Officer Barry Weinbaum and Jack C. Rains, Jr., President.
